IntervalZero Opens APAC Office

Sees APAC OEMs embracing evolution of embedded systems to intelligent systems

WALTHAM, MA & TAIWAN, R.O.C (Feb. 15, 2012) – IntervalZero Inc., whose SMP-enabled RTX software plug-in transforms Microsoft Windows into a real-time operating system (RTOS), has expanded its global operations with an office in Taiwan, R.O.C. The company said it has added sales support and technical resources.

The RTX real-time platform, which comprises Windows, RTX, and x86 multicore multiprocessing, drives cost and performance benefits in the development of intelligent embedded systems in industries ranging from Industrial Automation to Digital Media.

“Our ability to consistently acquire large, new customers in APAC over the last three years has fueled the record growth of our company.  We see this encouraging trend continuing and we recognized that to help our customers succeed more quickly we needed local personnel in place,” said CEO Jeffrey D. Hibbard.

Hibbard said that innovative Industrial Automation OEMs in Taiwan and China in particular are embracing the evolution of embedded systems from hardware-intensive, fixed-function, disconnected systems to software-based intelligent systems. These innovative systems utilize high-performance microprocessors, symmetric multiprocessing and parallel processing to drive down costs while increasing performance and programmability.

“I’ve been fortunate to have many discussions with executives at large robotics, PLC, digital media OEMs throughout APAC over the last three years and they are laser focused on taking full advantage of the opportunities that our real-time platform presents. They are using Windows’ world-class development environment, multicore x86, RTX real-time and EtherCAT connectivity to slash BOM costs, getting to market faster and scaling in ways that were not possible even a few years ago,” said Hibbard.

By leveraging x86 multi-core technologies and symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) functionality, and by transforming Windows into an RTOS with the RTX real-time plug-in, OEMs can replace real-time hardware such as DSPs and FPGAs with standard Windows PCs to reduce costs, and boost quality and performance.

The Taiwan office is IntervalZero’s second recent expansion outside the U.S. The company opened an office in Munich, Germany late last year.

IntervalZero’s customer-centered philosophy combined with more than three decades of embedded software innovation and the proven value of its RTX have enabled the company to build a global customer base of market-leading OEMs and end users in Industrial Automation, Medical Systems, Digital Media, Test & Measurement, Military & Aerospace, and other industries.

IntervalZero is relentlessly focused on its customers’ success and shares their pursuit of excellence. The company continuously invests in both its real-time software technology and in strengthening customer relationships.

IntervalZero is headquartered in Massachusetts and has an office in Nice, France as well as Munich and Taiwan. The company is a Microsoft Embedded Gold Partner and gained Microsoft’s recognition as a leading partner in both North America and EMEA in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
