Ashraf Eassa had an interesting blog post last week at seekingalpha.com on what he sees as Intel’s “leg up” over ARM because of Intel’s focus on performance and process technology.

Worth reading, for sure, but for me it didn’t fully capture the scale of Intel’s battle re ARM. What Intel is up against resembles the Apple vs. Android matchup.   It isn’t Apple versus a single company selling Android. It’s Apple vs. Samsung, Motorola, HTC, LG, Sony, etc.

And in the case of Intel vs. ARM, it’s really Intel vs. NVidia, Qualcomm, AMD, STMicro, Broadcom, TI, Freescale, etc.  So, the real challenge for Intel if it is to maintain its “leg up,” is to to stay on the top of its game against a formidable group of aggressive, take-no-prisioners chip makers.

So, does Intel have a “leg up” in the ARM war? Will Intel prevail?
