MaxRT vRTOS (coming soon)
Overview
A real-time hypervisor-based solution which includes an IntervalZero’s RTOS that connects to a GPOS such as Linux or Windows. This allows for the creation of virtual machines that can run real-time applications, providing flexibility and scalability to your control systems. vRTOS will support Linux for the GPOS initially but then provide a transition for its existing customers by supporting Windows shortly thereafter. Supporting both Linux and Windows will give the machine builder many more options while protecting their investment and will allow their solution to adapt to fit into their customer’s environment.
Determinism
Guaranteed Precision – set timer periods down to 1 microsecond, and Interrupt Service Thread (IST) latencies of less than 10 microseconds
Separation from the GPOS – Linux or Windows processes cannot interfere with real-time applications
Scalability – one scheduler is used across all real-time processors. Symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) aware scheduler utilizes both priority-driven and pre-emptive algorithms to ensure critical thread context switches; and yields to threads of high priority occur in the sub-microsecond range
Portability
MaxRT vRTOS is compatible with MaxRT wRTOS®.
The RTOS provided with vRTOS is MaxRT eRTOS, a stand-alone real time operating system, which shares the same kernel and logic with the real time sub system of wRTOS. Not only a real time application developed for wRTOS will be easily portable to vRTOS, it will be also connectable to Windows or Linux, depending on customers needs.
Standards
Like all IntervalZero’s products, MaxRT vRTOS has been designed for supporting standards. Running with Windows 11 or Linux, it supports Visual Studio for development environment and C/C++ for main programing language. All the GPOS drivers, tools and protocols are available. It support EtherCAT and the most advanced networking technologies such as TSN. Moreover, MaxRT vRTOS is committed to be compliant with the Cybersecurity Resilience Act. Supporting standards is a key for protecting our customers investment in our software.
